Here’s an idea for your next book club catch-up:

Many children’s books include the characters eating something, and some authors even make a point of including recipes at the back of the book. Your book club meeting could involve making the food together, or you could organise for everyone who is able to bring a plate of related food to share. Check allergies first, though. (If your club is virtual, you can still make something and eat “together” virtually.)

Some ideas:

Just A Pinch of Magic by Alechia Dow includes recipes

Belinda Murrell’s Lulu Bell series: make moon biscuits or any animal shaped or themed food.

Harry Potter: “pumpkin” pasties, “pumpkin” juice (could be pretend pumpkin using food colouring for fussy eaters), “butterbeer” (a quick Google search will bring up dozens of recipes you can try).

Other food-themed books:

A Spoonful of Time by Flora Ahn

Love Sugar Magic series by Anna Meriano

A Baker’s Guide To Robber Pie by Caitlin Sangster
